![]() I used to be that type of person who uses acetaminophen every time I felt discomfort, I was relying on medication for my mental health and my physical health. I always felt a bit bedazzled by the fact that nobody would suggest any alternatives, not my doctor nor my therapists. I felt a huge resistance towards medication of any sorts and was praying for a solution, sure enough I was guided to take part in an essential oil class with a new friend of mine. I had already been taking gingko biloba as a supplement to help me with my awareness, memories, and anxiety. The woman who was passionate about essential oils and whole food supplements explained to me that there is also gingko in the supplements she uses. I loved using the oils and the advocate dropped by to bring me a few roller bottles and explained to me how to use my starter kit. After a couple of months I began to realize the benefits of having a natural wellness package delivered every month, I switched up my order each month to reflect what I needed in my household; from toothpaste, body wash, hand sanitizer, shampoo and conditioner, foaming hand soap, supplements and more. After about one year, I was receiving back 30% of my orders in points. I could use them to buy some of the more expensive items like rose and melissa essential oils or the skin care regime. I also had points left over to buy oils to share with friends and create samples for people who are interested. I also bought products for special occasions like Christmas and birthdays with the points I had accumulated. This has now become a part of my lifestyle. The best part was that I was learning healthier and simpler ways to take care of myself and my family, using my oils for scrapes and bug bites, tummy aches, sleep issues and neck pain for example, though I feel the greatest impact made was by the use of the LLV whole food supplements. My sister came to visit from Switzerland last year and she had a viral outbreak in her mouth, which she occasionally suffers from, she did not bring her medication with her and was worried about if she would find it here in canada. I told her not to worry. I looked up in my essential oils booklet what oils would be great to relieve viral flare ups and were safe to take internally. It suggested black pepper and an essential oil blend, so we applied the oils sparingly with a Q tip on the affected areas and she gargled her mouth maybe 3-4 times a day with some water, salt and a drop of each oil, after four days the infection had completely cleared up and has yet to come back. I gave her the rest of the oil to take home. It is interesting to me that there are often natural non-invasive options to treat minor health problems but how little it is advertised and when we ask the “professionals” they know nothing about it. Therefore, I began to investigate options and relied on my own inner guidance more to make right choices for myself and my family. Sometimes it’s a bit of trial and error but I feel satisfied that I have the ability to take care of ourselves for the most part and no longer feel like I need to run to the doctor every time I have a problem. This level of self-sovereignty has greatly affected my own self confidence and how I feel in my environment, where I used to be a rather fearful person who got sick many times a year and already developed antibiotic resistance, I now had become a person who rarely uses antibiotics and no longer is fearful about getting ill and having no medication available that works for me. My fears largely have been dissipating over the past couple of years since I was learning to take care of myself. There is something very empowering about this. I feel that we all came here with everything in place to look after ourselves and have thriving life’s, we just have to remember that and use our natural curiosity and intuition to find the answers to our questions.
