Simple Healthy Alternatives

Laundry detergent and Softener

I made my own laundry detergent and softener, I tried it.. a few loads in and I must say I really LOVE it!

Here it goes:

Laundry Detergent:

1 grated bar of ivory or dove soap
1 cup borax
1 cup washing soda (found it at home hardware)
20 drops of Essential oils (lemon, citrus bliss, lime...)

Mix it all together in a bowl and fill it into a tall Tupperware or other container, store it safely away from kids or pets reaching it.

Use 1 tablespoon for small and 2 tablespoons for large loads.

Softener:

2 litre epsom salt (fine)
40 drops lavender essential oil
30 drops tea tree essential oils
20 drops lemon essential oils
(Or choose your favourite, I have used slightly less oils then what’s recommended.)

Put into a large glass jar

Use 1/2 cup for medium to large loads and 1/4 cup for small loads

You can add 2-4 drops of lavender to an unscented dryer sheet, wash cloth or a sheep ball to further infuse fresh scent into your laundry.

My cloths come out clean, fresh and soft with a light scent to them.
